Tasting Notes
Appearance
Dark amber with a bronze illuminance. Clear with no sediment and slightly higher than light viscosity.
Nose
A cross between cherry and pumpkin pie kicks off the aroma. There is a hint of sweet maple syrup, but beyond that is the ginger and baking spices.
Palate
Dark caramel develops on the tongue as well as a strong cinnamon presence. The finish is light at first but grows with time, coming over as a gentle, lapping wave of spiciness. Baking spices like that of pumpkin pie are heavy in this young bourbon but not overwhelming.
Final Thoughts
With Kentucky bourbons being harder and harder to find some exploration into other whiskey regions is becoming paramount. This bourbon is a fantastic break from the ever-so-sought-after Blanton’s.
