Tasting Notes
Appearance
Beautiful red tinted mahogany with no sediment and medium viscosity.
Nose
Powerful aromas of oak, rye, and corn. Hints of baking spice cinnamon and tobacco. Sweetness is present with notes of vanilla, caramel, maple, and honey.
Palate
This whiskey is sweet on the tongue with a full round rich body. The sweetness is balanced by the baking spices. The finish is long and expresses mild fruit notes of orange and cherry. This is a moderately complex whiskey and opens up on the second sip.
Final Thoughts
This is a great all-around whiskey for fans of true Kentucky Bourbon. With Rare Breed being so hard to find these days, Russell’s Reserve not only outsells but outperforms its more expensive cousin.
